Organized Insanity: The life of a baseball wife

Oh wow, what a whirlwind our lives have been over the past few months! Where should I begin? I guess I will start with the marathon of events over the past 6+ weeks.  But first, I will show you a pic of Kylar and Raynor at Spring Training! So cute!

In February, Kylar and I returned home from my parents house (I was in Dallas for my OBGYN rotation) and I embarked upon the first few months of being an "unofficial" single mom.  It was not easy taking care of Kylar by myself while I began one of the most difficult rotations of PA school (Raynor is in AZ for rehab + spring training.. thus my "unofficial single mom" status). A week later, Kylar had an ear infection and I had the flu (stupid flu shot didn't help me at all!!).  Then Kylar and I were able to fly out to Arizona to see Raynor during Spring Training! It was a much needed break from all the chaos at home (btw, my house looks like a tornado swept through it at any given day.. I am accepting applications for free cleaning services from any of my lovely friends who are willing to attempt to salvage my house!).  When we got back, my computer decided to crash the week before grand rounds.  Coincidentally, I had just finished my Master's Thesis outline the night before and I had NOT saved it to my flash drive yet.  >Enter: the crazy/panicked PA student here<  Believe me, no amount of Valium or Xanax could have calmed me down that particular moment!  However, I attempted to reboot my computer one more time and it must have been my lucky day because my computer sputtered back to life! I was able to save all of my pertinent documents to my flash drive before it crashed again for the last time (I think that was more of God's grace than luck!).  Even though I was able to save my documents, I was without my computer which made it very difficult to study for my test, but I managed (what did they do in the olden days before there were computers?!) The next week, Raynor was sick all week in Arizona without me there to take care of him :(, and I had to take one of the most difficult tests of PA school.  When I returned from grand rounds, Kylar was starting to wheeze a lot (she had been very congested for a few weeks).  I hate seeing her sick :( But she did perk up a bit when she got to go with mommy and a friend to get a pedicure! She loved it! (and the pedicure ladies loved her.. I had to pry her from them when we left!).  I took her to her pediatrician this week and she is now on a long list of meds (kinda reminds me of my geriatric patients' med rec lists!) for an ear infection, allergies and bronchitis -- I think she is allergic to every type of plant in central Texas.

Oh, and I almost forgot to share Raynor's newest acquired injury: a broken tooth.  No joke!  He text me in January (he was in AZ then rehabbing a different injury) and said "I broke my tooth." And that was it.. such a simple text message for something that could use a lot more of an explanation! Turns out, he was fielding ground balls and decided it would be fun to catch one in the mouth.  4 hours and several shots of Novocaine later, my husband was toothless! He sent me a picture of his toothless grin and I could not believe it!  I think my words were "wow! Kylar really looks exactly like you now - you both don't have any teeth!!"  Unbeknownst to me, the prosthesis for teeth actually take 3-6 months to make so my husband would remain toothless for a while longer than I really cared for.  In the meantime, they gave him a "flipper" (no, not the dolphin -- it is an interesting looking device with a fake tooth attached to it..) When I was in AZ visiting, he loved to pop it in and out of his mouth! Drove me nuts!!!  Luckily, the dentist was able to expedite the process so Raynor was able to get his permanent tooth yesterday!

It looks exactly like his old tooth! -- wait, that sounds a little strange..

So, that has been my life in a nutshell for the past few weeks.  It is crazy, hectic, chaotic, wonderful and everything in between.  I wouldn't change it for anything.

I hope you have enjoyed my little rant.. hopefully my next post will include an update on where Raynor will be going for the season!  Until then, here are some pics of the past few weeks!
